Toy Product Design

Toy Product Design is a first-year class that introduces and sets the foundation for all Mechanical Engineering principals. We are split into small teams and tasked to ideate, create, and implement a new children’s toy. Not only did we learn basic machine shop skills and tap into our creative imaginations, but we also learned how to user-test and incorporate feedback for what our target demographic (kids!) actually want. On Team Tiger, we built a toy similar to air hockey, but with some twists. The game is played on the top of the board where players hit balls with their “whacker”, which are controlled by moving the handle under the board, connected by magnets. If you click below and scroll to the bottom of the page, you can watch Team Tiger’s final presentation. I was one of the presenters - the one in the silly, giant muscle suit!
