Fly Rod Building

The spring of my senior year, I decided to do another independent project. Working under the guidance of our head of school, a skilled wood-worker, and two peers, we designed and created fly fishing rods. I was not super familiar with fishing, but I was extremely curious and intrigued by the artistry of making the rods ourselves. I learned how to fly-fish as well as how to make a beautiful and functional piece by making eight pieces in a matter of months.
